About the role
The Home for Little Wanderers is an established child welfare agency with a mission to provide stable lives and hopeful futures for vulnerable children and their families. The Therapeutic After School Program (TASP) seeks a Per Diem Residential Counselor to join a team dedicated to helping youth aged 12 to 16.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and secure environment for clients
- Counsel, observe, and provide behavioral training, outreach support, and treatment to children and their families
- Ensure clients are supported to lead emotionally and physically healthy lifestyles
- Plan and participate in activities with clients/students on an individual and small group level
- Teach age-appropriate life skills and social skills through modeling, counseling, and other techniques
- Communicate through written and verbal means with other program staff
- Complete assigned paperwork including time sheets, level cards, goal/level tracking, incident reports, and 51A’s
- Attend trainings and participate in supervision meetings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year childcare experience in a residential setting with similar population of children
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer
- Driving requirements may apply, including a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
