About the Role
The role oversees day-to-day HR operations, onboarding systems, and compliance frameworks to support a distributed, fast-growing workforce. This position bridges the gap between systems administration and employee experience, ensuring that internal tools and databases are optimized for scale. The candidate will act as the primary owner for the HRIS, employee life-cycle transitions, and benefits administration. Working closely with recruiting, payroll, and IT, the role plays a critical part in maintaining operational efficiency and data integrity across all people systems.
Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize core HRIS platforms (such as Rippling, Workday, or BambooHR) to ensure accurate employee records, workflows, and reporting
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding and offboarding lifecycle, coordinating with IT, Payroll, and hiring managers for seamless transitions
- Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment, billing reconciliation, and acting as the primary escalation point for employee inquiries
- Ensure multi-state and federal employment compliance, including mandatory filings, policy updates, and employee handbook maintenance
- Analyze and present monthly people metrics, tracking headcount, retention, and compensation benchmarks to inform leadership decisions
- Design and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key HR workflows to improve scalability and reduce processing friction
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in human resources, people operations, or a closely related role within a fast-paced technology environment
- Strong proficiency with modern HRIS, payroll, and ATS tools (such as Rippling, BambooHR, Sequoia, or Greenhouse)
- Deep working knowledge of US employment law, multi-state payroll practices, and compliance standards (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA)
- Excellent analytical skills with a track record of manipulating HR data sets in Excel or Google Sheets to extract insights
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Qualifications
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or experience managing international employment entities and global contractor networks (bonus)
