About the role
Directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, and the execution of associate relations activities. Provides each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their guest service and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of all Human Resource functions, including recruitment, training and development, benefit administration, and associate relations activities.
- Directs and instructs management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient associates.
- Conducts interviews for all management positions and makes hiring recommendations.
- Ensures associates are developed and utilized to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation, administration, and monitoring of all training programs.
- Monitors associate performance appraisal programs, analyzing evaluations and goals to ensure comments are appropriate and goals are measurable and achievable.
- Directs and administers associate relations programs and activities such as recognition ceremonies, service awards, social functions, and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive associate relations climate.
- Develops, implements, and administers policies and programs related to hotel personnel to ensure a positive and productive employment environment.
- Ensures compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources by reviewing current practices, implementing new procedures, and communicating requirements.
- Oversees compliance with the Affirmative Action Plan.
- Provides assistance, guidance, and counseling to the General Manager and management staff to maximize staff quality and professionalism.
- Controls the administration of wages and benefits to ensure accurate and equitable application, analyzing information from reports, manuals, and computer systems.
- Manages all labor relations activities by administering union contracts and ensuring compliance; responds to grievances in writing, negotiates settlements, and acts as the hotel representative at arbitrations (at applicable properties).
- Oversees pre-selection activities, including drug testing and reference checks, to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures all new hires and existing associates possess proper employment eligibility verifications.
- Communicates both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Human Resources experience, preferably in Hospitality or a similar industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field or HR certification is helpful.
- Ability to deal effectively with all applicants and associates, requiring high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
- Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures, as well as State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to HR matters.
- Ability to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration and to forecast departmental expenses.
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously for a minimum of an eight-hour shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to observe associates in the workplace, analyze operations, and detect areas of concern regarding performance, grooming, training, policy adherence, and morale.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
Pay
Salary Range: $74,000.00 - $78,000.00 Annually
