About the role
We are expanding our People Business Partner Team here at Owner! In this role, you’ll be a key strategic partner, aligning our People Ops initiatives with Owner’s business goals. You’ll work closely with G&A leadership across functions like Finance, Talent, Business Operations, Legal and Marketing — helping leaders scale high-performing, engaged, and resilient teams as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with G&A leadership to understand business priorities and develop People Ops strategies that drive organizational effectiveness, scalability, and high performance.
- Partner with leaders on organizational design, headcount planning, and team structure to support evolving business needs and long-term growth.
- Partner with Talent and leadership to attract, develop, and retain top talent across G&A functions; support succession planning, leadership development initiatives, coaching strategies, and career frameworks.
- Coach leaders through performance management, feedback, and accountability practices that reinforce a high talent density culture.
- Champion initiatives that strengthen Owner’s culture and values while fostering employee engagement and connection across distributed teams.
- Support leaders and teams through periods of growth, change, and transformation with thoughtful communication and execution.
- Leverage People metrics and insights to identify trends, inform decision-making, and measure the effectiveness of People programs.
- Ensure People practices comply with applicable employment laws and support the needs of a distributed and global workforce.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 + years of demonstrated experience in People Operations, with a focus on business partnership ideally supporting G&A or corporate functions within a start-up environment.
- Strong business partnership skills with the ability to influence leaders, navigate ambiguity, and drive organizational outcomes.
- Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment with the adaptability and resilience to manage competing priorities and evolving business needs.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and People practices across the U.S & Canada.
- Expertise in organizational development, including talent strategy, employee engagement, performance management, and building scalable, high-performing teams.
- Excellent judgement and problem thinking skills.
- Proficiency in HR tech stack (preferably Rippling HRIS & Lattice), with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, and execution skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.

Pay and Benefits
This role's base salary range budget is $155k-$175k USD / $155k-$175k CAD, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package. Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, unlimited/flexible PTO - plus extra fun perks!
