About the role
Supervises and directs the daily operations of PEO Tax Specialists. Ensures fulfillment of quarter-end and year-end payroll tax requirements. Monitors PEO parent entity payroll tax accounts to ensure compliance with IRS, state and local tax regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervises, assigns, directs and verifies the work of assigned personnel.
- Ensures timely preparation and filing of federal, state and local tax returns and processing of payroll tax payments in excess of $600 million annually.
- Provides payroll tax expertise and support to resolve client payroll tax concerns.
- Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with clients, CPAs and Paychex departments.
- Supervises training of personnel; recommends, implements and monitors on-the-job training and education to ensure professional advancement of assigned personnel.
- Recruits, selects, hires and evaluates performance of personnel to ensure all department needs are handled appropriately.
- Counsels and develops staff for personal and corporate advancement through career development, training programs and other resources as required for professional advancement.
- Maintains knowledge of changes in payroll tax laws and tax agency requirements.
- Plans, coordinates and organizes the quarter-end and year-end process, to ensure accurate transmission of tax returns and payments.
- Utilizes Power of Attorney with IRS, granted by Paychex, for all PEO entities to ensure good standing of accounts.
- Develops and maintains a positive, professional relationship with tax agencies.
- Develops and implements alternative procedures in response to changing payroll tax requirements, including the development of alternate technology to increase efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- 1 year of experience in Leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in Payroll or accounting experience.
- PEO experience.
Pay
Starting base pay range: $61,400 – $96,400 annually. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.
