About the Role

The Pension Analyst blends deep Defined Benefit domain expertise with a passion for teamwork, innovation, and client management. This role supports the strategic direction of the business, leads highly complex issues to resolution, and works with domain professionals to solution client improvements and enhancements through corporate actions and change orders. The Analyst will also engage with other lines of business on projects affecting other Defined Benefit products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, lead, and drive operational services and efficiencies for clients and the organization’s bottom line.
  • Provide leadership on ad hoc client or internal projects requiring critical thinking and self-direction.
  • Advise on Plan documentation discrepancies and guidelines (e.g., data, provisional, or other plan/client issues).
  • Analyze, review, and guide client teams to resolve escalated client or participant issues.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for client and participant issues, including problem resolution, transaction issues, and data questions.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in client meetings.
  • Act as a team leader and expert guide on multiple client plan processes, procedures, and calculations; maintain client direction documents.
  • Own and analyze operational issues and recommend business solutions based on knowledge of client plan design and system functionality.
  • Work with internal teams to identify, analyze, and implement process and procedural changes based on new regulatory amendments or administrative improvements.
  • Play a significant role in implementation, corporate actions, and other special projects, ensuring defects are identified, corrected, and tested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7+ years of defined benefit/pension plan administration experience.
  • Experience in Project Management and/or Analytics.
  • Ability to run queries, analyze and organize large amounts of data, identify root causes, and work toward solutions.
  • Ability to balance day-to-day management of multiple project-related responsibilities and tasks, including highly prioritized requests.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with self-motivation, determination, and the ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including the ability to perform complex manual calculations within Defined Benefit Plan structures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and working experience with data analytics.
  • Client Management experience, including requirement discovery and solution design.

About the Team

This role resides within Workplace Investing Defined Benefit Operations. You will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Defined Benefit client servicing, business reporting, contractual obligations, and internal scale and efficiency initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-product/functional subject matter experts, Centers of Excellence, and other lines of business to solve problems and make empowered decisions based on trends, issues, and business drivers.

Schedule

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
