PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee (Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee)
About the role
This position gives you practical experience with highway maintenance tools and procedures. You will grow your abilities while contributing to safe and efficient roadways.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Training: Learn to operate heavy trucks and loaders and complete required checks for safe use
- Tool Operation: Use motorized and non-motorized tools to complete maintenance tasks and report damaged equipment
- Safety Compliance: Follow proper safety procedures, make observations, and report hazards or incidents
- Environmental Duties: Apply environmental protection practices required for maintenance activities
- General Labor: Carry out various manual labor duties on highway or bridge crews
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent
- Active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work
- Active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work
Additional Information
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Work schedule may vary and overtime may be required during weather events.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
