About the role

Perform professional outpatient physical therapy services focused on restoring function and preventing disability following trauma or disease. This may include various tests, measurements, exercises, and modalities.

Schedule

Full-time day shift: Monday–Thursday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, Friday 7:00 AM–1:00 PM. Flexible hours available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct physical therapy to patients upon referral by a physician or advanced practice provider.
  • Demonstrate age-specific competence for patient populations: Infant (Birth–1 year), Child (1–12 years), Adolescent (13–17 years), Adult (18–65 years), Geriatric (over 65 years).
  • Evaluate patients using tests such as muscle testing, functional ability assessments, range of motion, and neurological testing.
  • Develop and administer physical therapy treatment plans to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain performance using therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and modalities.
  • Document patient treatment data, including progress notes, evaluation reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Instruct patients and families in home programs.
  • Supervise and monitor patient care delivered by physical therapist assistants.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and represent the department in meetings.
  • Consult with other professionals regarding patients' physical therapy plans of care.
  • Take orders from physicians' offices and hospital patient care teams.
  • Schedule patients as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision of physical therapist assistants and students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including emergency response (e.g., fire or disaster).
  • Manage time effectively to meet patient care assignments and departmental productivity standards.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment in accordance with state practice acts, hospital policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Assess treatment processes and adhere to acceptable standards of practice.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
  • Meet deadlines and commitments with minimal supervision.
  • Use safe techniques and patient handling equipment to protect patients and self.
  • Maintain an optimistic, professional image and provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, courtesy, compassion, and respect in all interactions.
  • Adhere to the Service Expectation Policy.
  • Report to work on time and meet hospital attendance and tardiness criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Physical Therapy.
  • Graduate of a PT program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association or equivalent as recognized by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • Licensed in the State of South Carolina by the SC State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • CPR Certification.
