About the role

The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides one-on-one support and assists with day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization and reintegration into the community. The role utilizes best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support to engage with members in the community and facility. The Peer Support Specialist embraces the recovery philosophy and promotes a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties of a Peer Support Specialist addressing one-on-one support needs.
  • Provide support for day-to-day problem-solving related to community reintegration.
  • Utilize assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support best practices.
  • Engage with members in both community and facility settings.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in Behavioral Health and/or Substance Abuse field required.
  • Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders required.
  • Current AZ Driver’s License (valid and in good standing).
  • Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Addiction and Substance Use Disorders certification preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
