Peer Supervisor, Bronx HOPE

About the role

The Bronx HOPE Manager/Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily dispatch operations of the HOPE Program and managing the team of Peer Specialists. The role involves assisting with training, scheduling, and dispatch operations to police precincts, coordinating client intake and referrals, delivering prevention recovery services, and facilitating educational workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client's cases using Salesforce to track services, document case notes, monitor outcomes, and maintain accurate client records in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilize Salesforce to coordinate client intake, referrals, follow-ups, and reporting while ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement for District Attorney referral cases, perform client assessments, and deliver prevention recovery services through in-person, telephone, and virtual support.
  • Collaborate closely with NYPD and the Peer Specialists staff to ensure response to precinct-level arrests are met at the appropriate time.
  • Provide dispatch coverage, including response to NYPD dispatch calls and engagement with potential HOPE participants at the precinct.
  • Help facilitate program referrals and assessments and manage the HOPE databases.
  • Facilitate educational workshops in the community to spread overdose prevention education and facilitate ATI groups.
  • Supervise and collaborate on the development of an initial action plan, including a thorough review of substance use-related issues.
  • Provide orientation and job training for HOPE Peer Specialists.
  • Develop Peer Specialist work schedules and determine leave or vacancy coverage plans, in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Provide constructive feedback to Peer Specialists based on direct observation of service delivery and review of service documentation for continuous quality improvement.
  • Offer on-call supervisory coverage on a rotating basis and provide support to staff to address emergent or urgent issues they encounter in the field.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or an associate's degree and 2 years of relevant experience in advocacy, outreach and engagement, self-help, or recovery and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with integrated substance abuse assessment and treatment, motivational interviewing techniques, and stage-wise treatment required.
  • CRPA (Certified Recovery Peer Advocate) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of harm reduction and the ability to communicate accurately, empathically and under time constraints.
  • Experience using Salesforce, Microsoft Office programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook preferred.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule as this position follows non-standard working hours including some Saturday and evening hours as needed in response to clients and staff needs.
