Pediatrician (Weekdays)
Position Summary
The Pediatrician is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality primary care to infants, children, and adolescents in a community-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) primary care clinic. Activities include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Roles & Responsibilities
- Delivers full-scope pediatric primary care, including well-child visits, acute care, and chronic disease management.
- Orders or executes various tests and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
- Reviews incoming reports (e.g., lab, x-ray, EKG) and signs, dates, and follows up in a timely manner.
- Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases.
- Administers or prescribes vaccines, treatments, and medications, and instructs patients on proper utilization.
- Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services when necessary for patient's wellbeing.
- Adheres to established clinical protocols and procedures.
- Maintains adequate and legible patient medical records in the established chart.
- Supervises or participates in and reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Fulfills HRSA and health center productivity standards, such as UDS.
- Follows established health center procedures for patient billing and reimbursement.
- Maintains professional competence by completing appropriate specialty requirements of CME.
- Participates in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.
- Performs on-call duties as needed, including responsibilities in the electronic health record and the after-hours telephone on-call.
- Acknowledges patient's rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations and certifications.
- Completes all applicable licensing requirements and ethical standards, including maintaining required CE hours.
- Works with Integrative Health staff to provide collaborative care for patients.
- Maintains self in a professional manner at all times, adhering to regulatory body guidelines, Upstate Family Health Center policy and procedures, and in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement, as well as professional Code of Ethics.
- Participates in supervision meetings, staff meetings, agency-wide meetings, utilization review meetings, inservice training, and agency culture events.
- Completes all applicable licensing requirements and ethical standards, including maintaining required CE hours.
