About the Role

Denver Health is recruiting for a mission-driven Pediatric Trauma Medical Director to join our team. Denver Health is a nationally recognized integrated health care system serving as a Level 1 trauma center, a large network of community health centers, the city and county public health department, the city-wide advanced life support EMS agency (Denver Paramedics), and a regional poison control center. Denver Health is an academic affiliate of the University of Colorado, and all faculty hired are appointed a faculty rank commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the multidisciplinary activities of the Pediatric Trauma Program, pursuing and continuously maintaining full development of the trauma center in quality of care, volume, scope of services, cost-effectiveness, education, and research.
• Organize and manage the overall physician/surgeon component of the trauma service.
• Serve as faculty for both the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowships.
• Attend on trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) services, managing high-acuity patients with multi-organ system derangements.

Requirements

• Board-certified trauma surgeon with experience in surgical critical care.
• Demonstrated leadership in trauma program development and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Commitment to education, research, and high-quality patient care.
• Eligibility for faculty appointment at the University of Colorado.

About the Department

• The Denver Health Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 23-bed unit staffed by surgeons board-certified in surgical critical care, handling high-acuity patients.
• The Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Service performs over 1,000 operations annually, maintains an average daily census of 14 patients, and covers all aspects of emergency general surgery.
• The EGS service is attended by seven trauma surgeons, two general surgeons, and trainees.
