About the Role
Erlanger is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine team at Erlanger North.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain detailed medical histories, perform physical examinations, develop and implement treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide ongoing management of children with sleep-related disorders.
- Monitor patient progress, provide education and counseling to patients and families, coordinate care with referring providers, and ensure appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
Requirements
- Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to delivering compassionate care to pediatric patients and their families.
- Previous experience in pediatrics, pulmonology, sleep medicine, or a related specialty is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Education Required: Graduate from a nationally accredited school of nursing for both undergraduate and Master's degree; Pediatric certification required or Masters of Science in Medicine of a certified Physician Assistant program.
- Experience Preferred: Minimum of 3 years experience in pediatric clinic.
Skills
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills;
- Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations;
- Knowledge of current trends and new developments;
- Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.

Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Education Requirement
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required:
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
- Certification by the American Nurses Association or National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners as a Nurse Practitioner.
Department Position Summary
A nurse practitioner is employed by Erlanger Medical Center and is responsible for participating in the diagnosis, treatment and supportive care of pediatric patients. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her clinic. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective to the patient's status. Interpretation of the appropriate information is needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the Nurse Practitioner's protocols.
