About the role

This position will work at the VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital Family Care Center - South Hill, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical service to include: being available to the emergency department and inpatients; newborn nursery coverage, including being present for urgent and stat c-sections and other high risk deliveries; see patients in the ambulatory clinic setting; maintain clinical competency in Pediatrics and Newborn care.
  • Maintain clinical competency in Pediatrics and Newborn care while on-call for the inpatient service the physician must be able to be physically present on-site within 30 minutes.
  • For Medicine/Pediatrics boarded physicians, ambulatory clinic can include a balance of adult and pediatrics, and inpatient adult duties are an optional role.
  • Provide precepting and mentorship to medical students, residents and fellows when applicable.
  • Provide education to ancillary staff as needed.
  • Serve on hospital or departmental committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations and national organization committee work.
  • Participate in activities, which demonstrate professional commitment to position and to VCU Health Systems.
  • Perform administrative duties as are appropriate and necessary to support operations of the VCU Health Systems including but not limited to completing patient medical records, student evaluations and other required documentation.

Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
  • Board Certified and recertified if applicable by the American Board of Pediatrics
  • Experience in providing direct patient care to underserved populations across multiple settings
  • Willing and able to care for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and newborn nursery

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Skills
