About the role
The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pathology (DOP) seeks an experienced academic pediatric pathologist to join our CHCO faculty practice. We employ 120 academic faculty with diverse subspecialty expertise including clinical, anatomic, and subspecialty pathology serving pediatric to adult patients in two large hospital systems, the CHCO and their hospital network and the University of Colorado Health System with flagship hospitals on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Surgical pathology services: Gross and microscopic examination of general pediatric surgical pathology specimens including tumor biopsies and resections; medical liver, renal, cardiac biopsies, endoscopic gastrointestinal biopsies, placentas
- Results reporting: Using Epic Beaker
- Autopsy coverage: During weekdays
- Frozen sections: Call coverage to include after hours and weekend frozen sections, specimen triage, urgent biopsies, and rare emergency autopsy procedures
- Resident, fellow, and medical student clinical teaching
- Supporting multidisciplinary conferences
- Engage in scholarship, as broadly defined in the matrix of the University of Colorado School of Medicine
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Assistant Professor: Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology +/- Clinical Pathology with additional board certification in Pediatric Pathology or Pediatric Pathology board eligible. 2-5 years of experience
- Associate Professor: Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology +/- Clinical Pathology with additional board certification in Pediatric Pathology or Pediatric Pathology board eligible. 5+ years of academic pediatric pathology experience, sufficient scholarship and teaching credentials to allow appointment/promotion to the rank of Associate Professor
- Professor: Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology +/- Clinical Pathology with additional board certification in Pediatric Pathology or Pediatric Pathology board eligible. 10+ years of academic pediatric pathology clinical experience, sufficient scholarship and teaching credentials to allow appointment/promotion to the rank of Professor
