About the role
The Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Pediatrics is seeking a non-tenure eligible physician to join the Complex Care section within the Division of General Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. This position serves as a pediatric complex care and palliative care physician for the Department of Pediatrics.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.
- Research: Have working knowledge in research methods and participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.
- Service: Serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
- Clinical: Serve as a pediatric complex care and palliative care physician for the Department of Pediatrics in the Section of Complex Care. Provide clinical care to both inpatient and outpatient arenas as well as at the Transitional Care Unit at the Brook Road campus.
- Other: Take on administrative duties associated with this role.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Board certified in Pediatrics and either Board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, experience with clinical care of patients, experience in an academic medical center, and demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a complex care clinic and/or caring for medically complex pediatric patients.
