Pediatric CT Tech PRN Weekends

About the Role

The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury, under general supervision of a Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
• Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
• Demonstrates understanding of radiation dose reference levels, monitoring, and actions to take if estimated dose exceeds set levels, including patient follow-up.
• Demonstrates proper use of iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
• Utilizes AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) when communicating with patients to ensure correct exams are performed and establish rapport.
• Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the test and assesses patient’s ability to tolerate the exam.
• Prepares patients and equipment for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting exposure factors.
• Adheres to safety requirements, infection-control policies, drug and radiation protocols, and sterile techniques for invasive procedures.
• Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
• Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment and reports issues to management.
• Assists in maintaining supplies inventory and ensures the department is safe for individuals by screening according to policies.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, consent forms, and medical imaging records.
• Ensures timely interpretation of medical imaging records according to department policies.
• Administers first aid and uses emergency cart as needed.
• Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, and addressing patient satisfaction scores.
• Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Takes call if required.

Requirements

• Able to perform high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
• Able to explain procedures and put patients at ease.
• Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established standards and policies.
• Able to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
• Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
• Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills for care across age groups: newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.

Qualifications

• Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT).
• Must also be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography (ARRT-R) or in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N), or by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech (CNMT).

Schedule

PRN (Primary need Fridays and Saturdays 11:30 PM–7:30 AM, with some occasional weekday needs).
