Job Duties
- Responsibilities include appointment as the BMT Program Director with a vision for growth.
- This clinical role will include the provision of comprehensive care to Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) service patients at CHRISTUS Children's of San Antonio in the outpatient and inpatient setting in a tertiary hospital setting.
- Inpatient attending time includes night and weekend calls and rounds.
- This position manages a group of patients who are clinically complex or resource intensive.
- Management includes assessing, diagnosing, planning, and prescribing pharmacological (in a collaborative practice) and non-pharmaceutical treatment for health problems according to established protocols, standards of care, health promotion, and preventive care within a specialized area of practice.
- Perform physical and psychological assessments, diagnosis and treatment of episodic illnesses in collaboration with physicians; performs diagnostic procedures, oversees the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive therapies, coordinates and communicates all aspects of care with patients/family and the health care team.
- Education and supervision of trainees including fellows, residents and advanced practice practitioners.
- Serve as backup and consultant for Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers physicians at our network of community hospitals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified applicants must have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree, be BE/BC in Hematology/Oncology.
- Have or will obtain a Texas medical license.
