Medical Director Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the clinical oversight of Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Develop and execute strategies to standardize the delivery of clinical care and improve the health of our patients
  • Manage the overall health of Bone Marrow Transplant in collaboration with Clinical and Administrative Leadership
  • Manage all providers within Bone Marrow Transplant, both physicians and APCs, with clinical oversight of care provided by Bone Marrow Transplant in all settings
  • Provide leadership to physicians and clinical staff for the treatment of Bone Marrow Transplant patients
  • Oversee Bone Marrow Transplant clinical services, discusses and resolves administrative problems that arise and directs the planning and improvement of the clinical services
  • Oversee all staff in Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Act as a primary resource to Bone Marrow Transplant clinical team to troubleshoot issues and provide guidance and intervention related to operational challenges
  • Ensure the clinical program provides comprehensive clinical care through the multidisciplinary clinics and identifies, support and implements quality improvement initiatives for the program
  • Facilitate annual review of policies and procedures to ensure the program is in compliance with Hematology/Oncology standards
  • Makes regular reviews of section functions and policies and procedures
  • Ensures that all patients served on the Bone Marrow Transplant program are eligible to receive services
  • Participates in recruiting staff to develop the clinical program and engages in staff retention and development opportunities
  • Works with various center administrative offices such as finance, pharmacy, and program leadership to support planning, site visits, collaborators, and auditors
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Promotes ideas to increase patient accrual for treatment, cancer control and prevention clinical trials working with the Cancer Research Department at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute
  • Works with philanthropy for needed resources
  • Establishes a plan to upgrade the BMT unit with a separate leukemic unit

Position Qualifications

  • Experience leading high-performing clinicians and working closely with administrative leaders
  • Board Certified in Hematology & Medical Oncology
  • Ability to be licensed in the State of Delaware and Maryland and meet credentialing requirements

Annual Compensation Range $387,363.00 - $639,034.00

The above compensation range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting for full-time hours in the respective specialty. The actual compensation within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation the fair market value for physician services in the relevant specialty and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, credentials, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
