Responsibilities

  • Evaluation: Under the direct supervision of a licensed sponsor/supervisor who meets supervision requirements of the Audiology department, as well as the degree-granting institution:
    • Audits hearing and/or vestibular function through the use of diagnostic tests and other appropriate procedures, in compliance with guidelines set by the department and regulating agencies.
    • Applies proper knowledge, methods, and techniques using specific diagnostic equipment.
  • Documentation and Communication: Under the direct supervision of a licensed sponsor/supervisor who meets supervision requirements of the Audiology department, as well as the degree-granting institution:
    • Interprets test findings with prompt dissemination of results using professional oral and written communication.
    • Aids physicians and other providers in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral and central auditory disorders.
    • Counsels patients and families, as well as other professionals regarding hearing loss and options for (re)habilitation including, but not limited to hearing technology, communication options and educational services through the use of outcomes measures and referrals to appropriate service providers.
