Job Duties
- Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.
- Performs validated and designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under direction of licensed clinical team members.
- Actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment.
- Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.
- Counsels patient and family on self-care and discharge planning.
- Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly.
- May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs.
- May be required to facilitate, under the direction of the distant provider, a clinical exam including the utilization of any required peripheral devices (e.g. electronic stethoscope), other technology (e.g. video conferencing equipment) and software (e.g. Epic, Vidyo, etc) ensuring a comprehensive virtual care encounter is conducted.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team.
- Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role.
- Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
- Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- AHA - American Heart Association
