PBX Operator PRN
About the role
The role of PBX Operator PRN involves answering and directing calls, managing visitor interactions, and processing various types of calls for different departments.
Responsibilities
- Promptly answer all incoming and outgoing calls
- Oversee the placement of overhead pages for appropriate personnel
- Greet hospital visitors and provide accurate directions
- Respond to code phone or code wall panel alarms, prioritizing fire alarms
- Monitor fire panel alarms and phones, contacting the fire department and personnel as necessary
- Answer visitor questions and complaints, seeking guidance from the Director of Security as needed
- Place and process long distance and local calls for various departments and doctors' offices
- Aid patient rooms by advising on how to place calls and assist with billing inquiries
- Process, forward, and deliver patient mail and flowers with assistance from volunteer staff
Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma
- 2 to 5 years’ experience as a switchboard operator or customer service representative (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus

$14.03 - $18.94 per hour
