About the role

The PBX Operator at Alan B. Miller Medical Center is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. This role operates the hospital PBX system to route calls efficiently and facilitates emergency code notifications and overhead paging according to hospital protocols. The operator performs various communication and clerical support duties and may be cross-trained to float to other areas or departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process all incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls accurately and in a timely manner.
• Operate the hospital PBX system to route calls appropriately and efficiently.
• Facilitate emergency code notifications and overhead paging in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Perform various communication and clerical support duties.
• Cross-train and float to other areas or departments as operational needs require.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience as a PBX operator or in a related environment; 3+ years preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.

Alan B. Miller Medical Center is a new state-of-the-art hospital joining UHS’ growing regional network of healthcare operations in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
