PBIS Coach Tier I

About the Role

This is a full-time, building-based position focused on implementing and sustaining school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The role requires a two to three-year commitment to the process and flexibility to attend team training, network meetings, and advanced training opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a positive team culture.
  • Coordinate the whole-school acknowledgement assembly/event to kick off the year and celebrate school success.
  • Communicate PBIS activities at faculty meetings and network with internal/external coaches and sub-region coordinators.
  • Share PBIS updates with parents, parent liaisons, PTA/PTO, and the district team (e.g., District Leadership Team, Board of Education).
  • Communicate regularly with the District PBIS External Coach and District/RtI/PBIS Coordinator regarding training, technical assistance, and implementation support.
  • Facilitate monthly Tier1/Universal Team meetings (scheduling, agenda, and process).
  • Monitor the development and implementation of school-wide expectations, teaching, and reinforcement practices.
  • Coordinate celebrations and boosters for PBIS milestones.
  • Facilitate completion and monitoring of the Tier1/Universal Team Action Plan.
  • Integrate PBIS into broader school improvement activities through building leadership team efforts.
  • Establish and maintain data collection systems for PBIS implementation and student outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze data for problem-solving, decision-making, and action planning, including:
    • PBIS implementation process data (TIC, BoQ, SAS, SSS, PoI).
    • Student outcome data (discipline and academic).
  • Collaborate with the Technical Assistance Coordinator (TAC) for PBIS assessments, PoI, School Profile Tool, and SWIS/IC data.
  • Document the success of Tier 1 interventions using tools like the School Profile Tool and SWIS/IC.
  • Provide technical assistance to building teams on:
    • Readiness for PBIS implementation.
    • Tier1/Universal implementation (data-based decision-making, meeting schedules, staff communication, teaching/acknowledgment systems, new team orientation, school board presentations, and action planning).
  • Actively participate in all team and coaches trainings provided by the PBIS Network.
  • Participate in and present at PBIS conferences and forums.
  • Engage in District Internal Coaches Network Meetings and other professional development opportunities for internal coaches.

Qualifications

  • Specific knowledge and skills in:
    • Essential features of school-wide PBIS.
    • Problem-solving and school improvement processes.
    • Coaching competencies (e.g., establishing/maintaining positive relationships, effective communication, facilitating team processes).
  • Full-time presence in the building with credibility and positive relationships among faculty/staff.
  • Ability to promote shared decision-making and collaborate effectively with administrators and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in groups.
