Qualifications
- Specific knowledge and skills in essential features of school-wide PBIS
- Understanding of problem-solving and school improvement processes
- Coaching competencies (e.g., establishing and maintaining positive relationships, communicating effectively, facilitating team processes)
- Works in the building full-time
- Has credibility and fosters positive relationships with other faculty/staff members
- Promotes shared decision-making and collaborates with administrators/decision makers
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in groups
- Preferred two to three year commitment to the process
- Flexibility to attend team training, network meetings, and advanced training opportunities
- Ability to develop and maintain a positive team culture
Responsibilities
Communication
- Communicate PBIS activities at faculty meetings
- Network with other internal coaches, external coaches, and sub-region coordinators
- Communicate with parent/parent liaison/PTA/PTO
- Share Annual Report with district team (i.e., District Leadership Team, Board of Education)
- Communicate with district PBIS External Coach around training, technical assistance, and other supports needed for school-wide PBIS implementation
- Communicate regularly with District/RtI/PBIS Coordinator
Coordination with Tier1/Universal Team Members
- Facilitate monthly Tier1/Universal Team meetings (schedule, agenda, process)
- Monitor the development and implementation of school-wide expectations, teaching, and reinforcement practices
- Coordinate celebrations/boosters
- Facilitate completion and monitoring of Tier1/Universal Team Action Plan
- Coordinate building leadership team efforts to integrate PBIS into other school improvement activities
Evaluation
- Facilitate establishment of data collection systems
- Collect and analyze data for problem-solving, decision-making, and action planning:
- PBIS implementation process data
- Student outcome data (discipline and academic)
- Document success of Tier 1 interventions
Technical Assistance
- Provide technical assistance to building teams regarding:
- Readiness for implementation
- Tier1/Universal implementation (data-based decision making, meeting schedules, communication with staff, teaching and acknowledgment systems, new team orientation, school board presentations, action plan)
Training
- Actively participate in all appropriate team and coaches trainings provided by PBIS Network
- Participate in and present at PBIS conferences and forums
- Participate in District Internal Coaches Network Meetings and other opportunities provided for internal coaches to support implementation
- Coordinate the whole school acknowledgement assembly/event to kick off the year and celebrate school success
