PBIS Coach: Tier 1 - Charlton Street School

About the Role

Our PBIS Coaches play a vital role in our school-wide implementation of both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Positive Behavior Supports & Interventions (PBIS). The PBIS Coaches meet regularly (generally weekly) with administration to ensure a unified vision for supporting staff in implementation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 PBIS. The PBIS Coaches lead a recurring meeting (usually weekly) of the PBIS team, which includes grade team leaders and other participating teachers, to push out and monitor consistent implementation of PBIS throughout the school. The PBIS coaches also hear and respond to feedback from staff to ensure that barriers to success are addressed immediately.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the PBIS team works cohesively to provide high-quality direction and support to staff and students in implementing PBIS, including:
  • Working with the PBIS team to build a calendar of positive events that engage students and staff
  • Supporting teachers in implementing Tier 1 behavior management
  • Ensuring regular, productive PBIS team meetings where all members are engaged
  • Maintaining positive relationships and morale among school staff
  • Providing high-quality professional development for staff
  • Modeling positive behavioral practices as a teacher leader within the school
  • Coaching teachers on classroom management practices
• Collaborate closely with administrators to:
  • Develop PBIS meeting agendas and review PBIS action plans to track progress and address obstacles
  • Advocate for teachers’ needs while maintaining a united leadership front with administration
• Set agenda and lead weekly PBIS Team meetings, including:
  • Reviewing data to identify behavioral focus areas
  • Regularly reviewing the PBIS Action Plan
  • Facilitating active participation from all team members
• Ensure details and communication of PBIS plans are followed through by teachers
• Attend monthly coaches meetings with the District Coach/Supervisor
• Additional responsibilities as needed to meet PBIS implementation goals
