About the Role
We are seeking a Payroll Manager to support a contract engagement based in Waltham, MA. This position will focus on strengthening payroll tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including establishing employer accounts in states where registration is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead payroll tax compliance efforts across multiple states, ensuring timely registration and adherence to applicable employer withholding and unemployment requirements.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll tax activities for a workforce of more than 500 employees, maintaining accuracy in filings, payments, and reconciliations.
- Coordinate the setup of state payroll tax accounts in jurisdictions where the organization must become registered and compliant.
- Review payroll data and tax configurations within ADP Workforce Now and NetSuite to support accurate processing and reporting.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll tax issues, research regulatory questions, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Monitor filing deadlines, tax notices, and jurisdictional changes to reduce compliance risk and maintain good standing.
- Analyze payroll records and tax results to identify discrepancies, recommend solutions, and improve ongoing payroll operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll with a strong emphasis on payroll tax compliance.
- Hands-on background administering multi-state payroll in a complex regulatory environment.
- Experience supporting payroll operations for employee populations exceeding 500 workers.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now in a payroll or payroll tax management capacity.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite and its use in payroll-related processes and reporting.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax registrations, filings, and compliance obligations.
- Ability to investigate issues, interpret requirements, and communicate solutions clearly to business partners.
