About the role

The Field Payroll Supervisor role is a people manager position responsible for overseeing payroll and time record processing, coordinating activities, leading a team, and ensuring compliance with laws and department policies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team managing complex multi-state/union activities for assigned payrolls.
  • Maintain and prioritize team assignments, train subordinates, conduct performance reviews, and address performance issues.
  • Act as a resource and mentor to other payroll staff and collaborate with HR on leave and work location transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax laws, process timekeeping and payroll setups, and resolve employee issues.
  • Collaborate with IT to fix issues, enhance procedures, and monitor progress.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about paychecks and W-2s, and assist auditors with required payroll information.

Requirements

  • Payroll multi-state tax knowledge required.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Union experience preferred within the construction industry.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Communicate effectively, research, and analyze, and work independently.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in finance, human resources, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum seven years of work experience in payroll, preferably with a union employer.
  • Payroll, finance, and payroll tax training a plus.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Proficiency in Fusion Oracle and Workday.
