Payroll Specialist - Remote
About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll and Equity Operations Specialist to own and manage our core payroll systems, processes, and reporting on a global scale. In this role, you will be responsible for executing accurate and compliant payroll cycles across multiple entities, worker types, and currencies. You will also oversee the operational lifecycle of our equity programs, including grants, vesting, exercises, and taxable events, ensuring data integrity and compliance at every stage. This position sits at the intersection of People, Legal, Finance, and Tax functions. You will collaborate closely with these teams to streamline payroll operations, perform reconciliations, and enhance our compensation infrastructure as the company scales rapidly. Your responsibilities will include managing payroll for direct employees, Employer of Record (EOR) workers, and contractors, supporting month-end close processes, and maintaining consistency across various HR and financial platforms such as HiBob, Carta, Deel, and our ERP systems. Additionally, you will support audits and external advisors by providing accurate and well-documented operational data, contributing to our compliance and operational excellence. Qualifications
- Hands-on experience administering equity plans in an international setting, including RSUs, stock options, and taxable events
- Proven experience managing global payroll operations via Deel or similar platforms, including direct employees, EORs, and contractors
- Strong understanding of payroll and tax considerations related to equity compensation
- Exceptional attention to detail and operational rigor
- Ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with People, Finance, Legal, Tax, and external vendors
- Experience supporting audits and external compliance reviews
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills across multiple systems
Responsibilities
- Manage global payroll operations ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant pay cycles across multiple entities and currencies
- Assist in payroll-to-cash and payroll-to-ERP reconciliations, supporting month-end and financial close processes
- Administer global equity programs in Carta, including grants, vesting schedules, exercises, and taxable events
- Maintain data consistency across HRIS, equity, and financial systems through regular reconciliations and exception reviews
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate operational data and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize payroll and equity workflows and ensure compliance with local regulations
- Continuously improve payroll and equity processes through automation and system integrations
