About the role
Brown Advisory is seeking a professional, energetic and detail-oriented individual to fill a Payroll Senior position within our Baltimore office. The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager and will be responsible for processing US bi-weekly payroll, along with monthly payrolls in the UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore and UAE. The Payroll Specialist will ensure pay is processed on time and accurately.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Utilize Workday payroll system
- Aid in the payroll entry and review process for 900+ colleagues globally
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accuracy of earnings and deductions including taxable fringe benefits and garnishments
- Prepare/finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll metric reports, annual compensation statements, and annual surveys
- Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures as necessary
- Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with established retention policies
- Prepare and review filing of multi state/local and global payroll taxes, ensuring that payroll tax filings are timely and accurate
- Process, maintain and resolve all items related to Federal, State and local payroll taxes in a timely manner
- Prepare annual workers compensation insurance analysis
- Review year end payroll processing including but not limited to the creation of W2s/W2cs, P11Ds, PAYE Settlement Agreements and IR8As
- Respond to payroll requests from colleagues, managers, auditors and vendors
- Review workflows and implement streamlining measures
- Remain current with professional knowledge
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with Payroll Software (Workday a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administrations, Human Resources or related field preferred
- Understanding of multi-state payroll processing, including tax and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Experience processing UK payroll a plus
- Experience processing transactions related to equity compensation, stock options and deferred compensation
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Maintain colleague confidence and protect payroll operations by illustrating tact, discretion, and good judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Positive attitude and ability to interact well with others
- Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- CPP Certification a plus
Additional duties and projects as assigned
MD Salary: $75-$85k. Commensurate with experience and location.
Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
