About the role
This position assists and executes end-to-end payroll processing for Ford Field Management & Detroit Lions staff. The role involves working with all departments within the organization, addressing payroll-related questions and requests from employees and managers. The ideal candidate is well-organized, maintains a high level of confidentiality, and can work independently.
Responsibilities
- Field all staff payroll requests and inquiries from employees
- Review the time management system for approvals, accuracy, and completeness
- Responsible for the review of timely tax filings
- Initiate, monitor, and record bank impound
- Transmit 401-K deductions to provider and perform per-pay tie-outs
- Set up and process garnishment calculations
- Submit payroll deductions to appropriate authorities
- Assist the People Team with updating payroll records for changes in tax status, address, direct deposit, etc.
- Review and reconcile payroll
- Oversee the creation of the payroll calendars
- Responsible for cash flow projections for staff payroll
- Review quarterly tax filings to ensure third-party vendor has filed correctly
- Schedule and manage workers' compensation audit and assist with financial statement and 401k audits
- Work with accounting to reconcile payroll accounts in the general ledger on a periodic basis
- Responsible for monitoring pay codes and assist accounting with ledger accounts for staff payroll
- Support Payroll Manager and SVP of Finance for other entities and projects
- Help create and document best practices and procedures checklists for effective and efficient processing controls
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Complete employment verification requests for players and practice squad players
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience required
- Experience with Dayforce strongly preferred
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
- Strong working knowledge of payroll practices and procedures
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office (including Excel)
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and during office closures
- Ability to travel between Ford Field and the Meijer Performance Center
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record
