Payroll Manager

About the role

The Payroll Manager ensures the timeliness and accuracy of financial information in support of Spurwink’s mission. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, this position manages the organization's payroll process, ensuring accurate payment and reporting of staff wages, compliance with all federal and state laws, and maintenance of accurate payroll records.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the processing of the organization's bi-weekly payroll and oversee the Payroll team.
• Review quarterly State and Federal tax reporting prepared by ADP prior to filing.
• Act as a liaison between Payroll and Human Resources; participate in HR/Finance shared meetings.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of payroll accounts and other general ledger accounts.
• Assist with the annual financial audit and the yearly self-insured worker's compensation audit.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
• Minimum of five years' experience in payroll management, supervision, processing, financial administration, and accountability.
• Experience with ADP payroll processing is preferred.
• Knowledge of wage and hour laws.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment supported by best practices and adherence to federal and state regulations.
