Responsibilities
- Aid in weekly payroll processing for both union and non-union employees.
- Support payroll data entry, timecard review, payroll changes, deductions, overtime, and basic payroll adjustments.
- Resolve employee payroll questions or discrepancies.
- Maintain employee records, including new hires, employee changes, and terminations.
- Coordinate onboarding and assist with IT for new hire system access.
- Aid in recruiting coordination, such as scheduling interviews and supporting pre-employment verification.
- Track union employee progression increases and related data.
- Administer benefits, including new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, payroll deductions, and open enrollment.
- Prepare COBRA notices, workers’ compensation documentation, and answer employee benefit questions.
- Reconcile monthly invoices for payroll, benefits, voluntary plans, and union-related items.
- Generate reports, including headcount, census data, month-end reports, and ad hoc HR/payroll reports.
- Manage PTO tracking and assist with process improvements.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team and business operations.
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of payroll, HR, or HR coordination experience preferred.
- ADP payroll experience preferred; ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
- Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience in a union environment is a plus, but not required.
- Associate degree preferred, but not required.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication skills and comfort interacting with employees and leadership.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
