PAYROLL COORDINATOR/CLERK
BH Shared Services (a UHS company) located in Brentwood, TN is seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our established team.
About the role
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for processing and reviewing all payroll transactions for assigned facilities, such as automated time and attendance interface, timesheets, wage adjustments, wage garnishments, benefit deductions, as well as input of employee data and payroll calculations necessary for accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing. This role maintains an open line of communication with UHS and IPM facility management, CFO, and HR departments to assist in resolving payroll-related issues, answering questions, and ensuring employees receive accurate and timely pay.
The ideal candidate will have proficient data entry skills, a proven ability to use electronic data processing equipment, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Processes and reviews payroll transactions, including timesheets, wage adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Interface automated time records with payroll application and/or perform manual time entry via interpreting timesheets and Excel spreadsheets.
- Performs accurate and timely input of employee data and payroll calculations necessary for bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Prepare Excel spreadsheet reconciliations and payroll justification reports detailing hours, gross wage calculation, and taxable withholding for each entity processed.
- Generates and distributes scheduled bi-weekly paychecks and/or direct deposits, as well as processes approved manual off-cycle check requests, voids, stop pays, and direct deposit reversals for employees as directed.
- Prepares and distributes bi-weekly reconciliations, payroll, and finance reports to appropriate accounting and management teams, and HR.
- Addresses employee and facility payroll queries regarding hours, salaries, and taxes, and resolves discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 1-3 years of experience processing payroll.
- Proficient data entry skills and proven ability to use electronic data processing equipment and related payroll and financial software applications.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret payroll reports, payroll-related technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, individual employees, and outside agencies.
- Ability to calculate figures and apply basic concepts of math.
- Elementary use of computer spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Proficient working with payroll systems and strong knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
