Our Fort Wayne client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Compliance Coordinator to join their Payroll Department.

About the role

This role is responsible for reviewing and auditing new permanent and employee data to ensure payroll, tax, and onboarding information is entered accurately and in compliance with company policies and procedures. This position serves as a quality control function between Human Resources and Payroll, ensuring employee records are complete, accurate, and ready for processing. The ideal candidate enjoys working with detailed information, spotting inconsistencies, and ensuring processes are followed correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit new permanent records entered into the HR/payroll system for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify employee tax withholding, payroll setup, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all required onboarding steps have been completed and processed correctly.
  • Identify discrepancies, errors, or missing information and coordinate corrections with internal departments.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on payroll-related employee data.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting and compliance activities.
  • Monitor adherence to established onboarding and payroll procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps and recommending solutions.
  • Communicate professionally with HR, Payroll, and other internal stakeholders regarding data corrections and compliance concerns.

Requirements

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to analyze information and identify inconsistencies or errors.
  • Experience working in a detail-driven environment involving data validation, auditing, compliance, payroll, accounting, or administrative processes.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous payroll, HR, accounting, compliance, or auditing experience.
  • Experience working with Paylocity or a similar HRIS/payroll system.
  • Familiarity with employee onboarding, payroll setup, tax documentation, or record auditing.
