Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our payroll team on a contract to potential hire basis. This individual will play a key role in ensuring payroll operations remain compliant with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting payroll audits, reporting, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure payroll processes comply with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws and recommend updates to policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll tax compliance, filings, and year-end processing.
  • Review payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Aid with internal and external payroll audits.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll compliance issues.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Payroll teams to ensure accurate employee records and payroll processing.
  • Prepare compliance reports and maintain required payroll documentation.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
  • Provide guidance to payroll staff regarding compliance requirements and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of payroll experience with a strong focus on payroll compliance.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits and compliance reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, Workday Payroll, or other similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
  • Experience administering payroll for organizations performing work under Service Contract Act (SCA) and Davis-Bacon Act (DBA) government contracts.
  • Knowledge of prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll, and government contract compliance.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
