What You Need
- 2+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processes, deductions, taxes, and wage and hour requirements.
- Experience with payroll and/or timekeeping systems; UKG experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with numbers and employee compensation information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and management at all levels.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive personnel, payroll, and compensation information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as other business and payroll software.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Desirable but not required
- Experience with UKG knowledge
- Knowledge of Certified Payroll
What You Will Do
- Process weekly payroll accurately and timely in accordance with established payroll schedules and deadlines.
- Verify weekly payroll based on payroll hours reported from each division and review for compliance with company policies and wage and hour standards.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, completeness, and unusual or inconsistent results and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll finalization.
- Process payroll adjustments, corrections, manual checks, off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, and other special payments as needed.
- Set up, maintain, and ensure proper withholding and remittance of garnishments, child support, and other payroll deductions.
- Respond to payroll questions and requests from employees, managers, and company leadership and research issues through resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality of all current and former personnel and payroll records.
- Respond to requests for records as required by subpoena, government agency, audit, or other authorized request.
- Enter and process bonus checks and other supplemental payroll payments.
- Calculate changes in benefit deduction amounts due to employee leaves of absence.
- Calculate and process credits and additional deductions resulting from incorrect or missed deductions.
- Assist with payroll-related reconciliations, audits, and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation and review.
- Maintain accurate payroll documentation and records.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, identifying the root cause and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Assist with payroll system testing, updates, and process improvements.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local payroll requirements and company policies.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
