Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring employee pay is calculated correctly and delivered on schedule.
- Administer union payroll activities, including wage calculations, deductions, and related documentation requirements.
- Prepare and maintain certified payroll records in accordance with project and regulatory standards.
- Complete union reporting accurately and submit required information within established deadlines.
- Manage payroll-related tax preparation tasks on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis as needed.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end payroll close activities, reconciliations, and internal reviews to support reporting accuracy.
- Aid with benefits administration activities such as open enrollment coordination and profit-sharing program support.
- Provide onboarding assistance for new hires and handle routine HR administrative tasks tied to employee records and payroll setup.
- Support payroll system maintenance and contribute to payroll process updates, including work connected to future platform changes when applicable.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience, with a strong background in payroll administration beyond payroll clerk responsibilities.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with certified payroll; candidates without certified payroll experience are not eligible for consideration.
- Proven knowledge of union payroll processing and union reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing payroll taxes and related filings across recurring reporting cycles.
- Background supporting HR functions such as onboarding and other straightforward employee administration tasks.
- Familiarity with full-cycle payroll and multi-state payroll environments.
- Experience working with payroll and business systems such as ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Dynamics; finance-related experience is a plus.
- Certified Payroll (CPP) designation or similar payroll credential is helpful.
