About the role
We're looking for an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead payroll and benefits administration across multiple U.S. locations. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows multi-state payroll, ADP Workforce Now, payroll compliance, payroll taxes, employee benefits, and 401(k) administration.
Responsibilities
Payroll — Primary Focus
- Manage accurate, timely payroll for multiple locations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Manage payroll taxes, reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processing.
- Review and resolve payroll discrepancies, deductions, garnishments, bonuses, PTO, overtime, and pay changes.
- Partner with Finance and facility leaders on payroll reporting and issues.
- Serve as the payroll subject matter expert.
- Improve payroll processes and ADP Workforce Now utilization.
Benefits Administration
- Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other employee benefits.
- Manage benefit deductions and invoice reconciliation.
- Partner with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Support FMLA, ACA, COBRA, leave administration, and 401(k).
- Coordinate Open Enrollment and employee benefit communications.
- Resolve employee payroll and benefits questions.
Systems & Reporting
- Serve as the primary payroll and benefits resource for ADP Workforce Now.
- Maintain accurate payroll and benefits data.
- Prepare payroll, benefits, and management reports.
- Support audits, compliance, and process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field.
- 3+ years of multi-location or multi-state payroll experience.
- 3+ years of employee benefits administration experience.
- Advanced ADP Workforce Now experience.
- Strong payroll tax and year-end processing experience.
- Knowledge of ACA, COBRA, FMLA, 401(k), payroll compliance, and leave administration.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information and strict payroll deadlines.
- Occasional travel required.
