About the role
This position plays a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, every time. It involves executing core payroll processes, maintaining data integrity, and supporting compliance across all payroll activities.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll on a regular cadence, ensuring accurate and timely submission of employee data including hours worked, deductions, bonuses, and payments
- Review and validate timekeeping data prior to payroll processing to ensure accuracy
- Maintain payroll records and systems in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and help resolve issues in a timely manner
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, compensation, and deductions
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with year-end processes, including W-2s
- Ensure payroll activities align with federal, state, and local regulations
- Partner with the Finance team on payroll transaction recording and account reconciliations
- Cook up documentation and follow up items related to payroll audits
- Administer payroll-related deductions such as benefits, retirement contributions, and garnishments
- Process payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, and employee updates
- Contribute to the upkeep and ongoing improvement of payroll systems and processes
- Support additional responsibilities across Payroll, HR, and Finance as needed
Requirements
Requires a high level of attention to detail, organization, and accountability in handling sensitive information.
Qualifications
- 2 - 4 years of experience processing payroll in a multi-state environment
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles related to payroll
- Experience working within UKG payroll systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent experience
Skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to process payroll accurately and consistently
- Working knowledge of payroll processes including deductions, taxes, and compliance requirements
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data
- Organized approach to managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential employee information
- Effective communication skills when responding to employee questions and coordinating across teams
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to escalate issues when appropriate
