About the role

This position works with a professional team of physicians and other staff trained in dermatology to deliver superior patient care and ensure a positive patient experience. The role involves completing tasks related to posting, adjusting, and monitoring patient accounts receivables, proactively researching and resolving issues affecting delayed submission or payment, and communicating accounts receivable issues to management to ensure compliance and accuracy. The position also performs various administrative and clerical duties to support revenue cycle functions as needed and reports to the Supervisor, Payment Posting and/or Director, Cash Management.

Responsibilities

  • Complete posting of all payments and adjustments at the patient account level in a timely and accurate manner, balancing to the bank deposit daily.
  • Contact patients, insurance, or third-party administrators when clarification of information is needed to successfully post payment.
  • Call, chat, or email insurances to resolve payments/offset questions.
  • Check websites for additional information to resolve payments/offset issues.
  • Work on recoupment accounts to resolution.
  • Research and resolve insurance overpayments and credits.
  • Process patient refund requests and manage refund register.
  • Assist with monthly close functions, including month-end balancing.
  • Review all remittance advices for accuracy to identify errors or questionable data.
  • Manage time to complete work in a timely manner and be a team player.
  • Meet productivity requirements as established by the organization and external benchmarks.
  • Proactively engage other operational personnel to review and resolve issues as needed.
  • Provide professional assistance for patient billing calls.
  • Keep up-to-date with current payer guidelines and reimbursement policies (basic knowledge).
  • Effectively use the billing system to document patient accounts using proper grammar, spelling, and syntax.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission & Value Statement.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • 1-3 years of Payment Posting in a Medical Setting.
  • Experience with Accounting, EFT/ERA setup is a plus.
  • Mod Med/EMA practice management system experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand Explanation of Benefits is crucial.
  • Knowledge of third-party billing and collection requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed care.
  • General knowledge in posting recoupments and reversals.
  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Highly professional in appearance, tone, and delivery, and an effective communicator.
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated skills in working in a team environment.
  • Dedicated to follow-through and results.

Pay

Compensation Range: $18.06 - $24.56 per hour. Final offer will be based on a combination of skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
