Patrol Officer: On-Call Position
About the role
The Campus Safety on-call Patrol Officer plays a crucial part in fostering a safe and supportive environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni, guests, and property at Hood College. They are responsible for maintaining campus safety, promoting crime prevention, and providing various services to the community.
Responsibilities
- Safety Patrol (50%): Makes routine foot and vehicular patrols, investigates suspicious activity, responds to calls, conducts shift changes, monitors traffic, issues citations, and provides medical transportation.
- Community Support (50%): Promotes campus safety through various initiatives, participates in training sessions, maintains certifications, provides orientation and field training, and supports special events.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 2-3 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in campus security preferred; security experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and handle confidential material.
- Available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a background check.

- Able to relieve switchboard operators.
- Understands and adheres to the role of college campus safety officers.

Pay
This is a non-exempt position with a starting hourly rate of $15.00 for an on-call position. Additional compensation may include shift differential and overtime. Hood College has provided a compensation rate representing its good faith estimate of what the College may pay for the position at the time of posting. The College may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation.
Schedule
The position involves rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. There is an emergency recall 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
