Patient Transporter Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Transporter is responsible for day-to-day transport duties to facilitate throughput in the hospital. This is a non-clinical, non-certified associate position responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services in an attentive, friendly, and efficient manner to all patients during their entire stay.
- Responsibilities include transporting patients, equipment, and other items in the hospital environment by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.
- Absolutely essential is assisting in morning portables and other duties as assigned.
- Strategically plan and communicate patient movement to ensure appropriate resources are available to proactively manage hold hours and unoccupied bedtime.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A GED is preferred.
- A minimum of six (6) months experience in a patient transportation department in a health-related facility is required.
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Minimum six (6) months of health-related transportation department experience is preferred.
- Basic computer and hospital informatics skills are required.
