Patient Transporter

About the Role

This role involves providing constant observation and non-clinical assistance to patients under the supervision of nursing staff. You will utilize specialized skills to perform duties such as feeding, grooming, transporting, positioning, and transferring patients (excluding bathing and toileting).

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient conditions, identifying situations needing nursing intervention, and report updates to nursing staff and management.
• Ensure patient safety, including those in restraints, adhering to industry and hospital standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Remain with patients at all times unless relieved by authorized personnel, using verbal techniques to keep patients calm and in bed.
• Contact nursing staff immediately for changes in patient condition or unruly behavior that cannot be de-escalated.
• Stay fully attentive to patient behavior and condition, avoiding distractions such as personal devices or personal information.
• Follow all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
• Lift and transfer patients to/from wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• No licensure or certification required.
