Position Summary
Supervises Patient Transporters and Dispatchers, assists in developing standards and procedures, prepares production reports, trains staff and performs dispatch or transport duties as needed.
Job Requirement
- Educational/Experience: Equivalent to high school diploma; one (1) year of experience in hospital support operations and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred (Recent, within the last 5 years): One (1) year recent Supervisory Call Center experience, scheduling staff including Shuttle Drivers, Pt Transporters, recent experience with timekeeping (Kronos or payroll), familiarity with invoice/billing practices with various non-emergent transportation companies, proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and availability to work nights/weekends.

- Knowledge: Modern theories, principles and practices of effective supervision; office theories and principles; hazardous materials; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age-specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
- Skills: Reading, analyzing, developing and implementing policies and procedures; allocating manpower in accordance with needs; dispatching calls; applying CPR; changing oxygen tanks; applying proper lifting techniques; using equipment such as radios, battery chargers, gurneys, carts and wheelchairs; performing basic mathematics; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Mobility to work in a variety of hospital environments and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and computer screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person, over the telephone and over the radio. Strength and agility to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
