Patient Services Representative - Oakland

UPMC Western Behavioral Health is in search of a Patient Services Representative to join our team at Bellefield Clinic in Oakland. As Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for patient check in, insurance verification, scheduling of patients as well as new patient paperwork. This position will work a Monday through Friday schedule 8am to 4:30pm. Responsibilities: Warmly greet all patientsAssist with self‑arrival technology or perform check‑in based on preferenceCollect copayments and other required payments at service timeConfirm or update patient information during checkoutSchedule follow‑up appointments and connect patients to ancillary servicesProvide clear guidance to help patients navigate the healthcare systemFollow up on unresolved patient questions to ensure continuity of careApply service‑recovery principles when care does not meet expectationsRegister patients in biometrics and explain its benefitsPromote and assist with MyUPMC portal registrationEducate patients on financial responsibilities and connect to advocacy resourcesVerify insurance benefits through online systems or phoneObtain required signatures for treatment and financial consent per HIPAAProperly route incoming phone calls to appropriate staff or providersSupport administrative tasks such as scanning and faxing medical recordsStay knowledgeable about the UPMC Patient Portal and help patients use it effectivelyCompletion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.
