Patient Services Representative
About the role
The Patient Services Representative functions as a member of the patient care team, performing clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care and promote efficient use of the physician's time. This position also handles all clerical duties required for patient check-in/check-out, assists patients in obtaining services in a timely manner, and ensures efficient utilization of the physician's appointment schedule. The role includes coordinating patient care, administering referrals, and performing front desk activities at the Provo clinic.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial intake and follow-up calls with patients via inbound and outbound calls/dialer, identifying and resolving patient concerns.
- Process requests for prescription refills according to established practice.
- Promptly and accurately report and refer patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, or changes to licensed clinic personnel.
- Schedule, edit, and maintain patient physician appointments for new and returning patients using the scheduling system.
- Respond to inquiries from patients, relatives, and referring physicians, providing accurate information in a timely fashion.
- Act as a patient advocate, coordinator, and liaison for the clinic in dealing with the community.
- Serve as a non-clinical liaison/concierge/navigator for referred patients before, during, or after an encounter.
- Perform clerical duties, including meeting or exceeding monthly departmental goals set by operations management.
- Adhere to phone activity and compliance standards, including HIPAA, ACW, and minimum call volume requirements.
Requirements
- Knowledge of clinical staffing, office organization operations, and functions of computer word processing and database applications.
- Excellent communication skills by telephone, in person, and in writing.
- Ability to multitask and maintain records and information.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or equivalent preferred).
- 1+ year of customer service experience.
- 1+ year of medical office experience preferred.
