Patient Services Rep/Phlebotomist (MAKO IN)

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures, including but not limited to: drug screens, blood samples, processing pathology and cytology samples.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems or directory of services.
• Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test order entry from requisition.
• Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test order.
• Work iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate data is provided for billing purposes.
• Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to Director as required and scheduled.
• Perform departmental-related clerical duties when assigned, such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures (e.g., Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual).
• Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and the name on the label is correct.
• Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
• Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
• Participate in special projects and teams.
• Stay up-to-date on company communications.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Physical Requirements

• Lift light to moderately heavy objects: 1 to 15 pounds frequently, 16 to 25 pounds occasionally, and 26 to 40 pounds seldom. Objects exceeding 41 pounds require assistance.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently to constantly throughout the day.
• Position requires travel.
• Extensive use of phone and PC.
• Fine dexterity with hands and steadiness.
• Bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
