About the role

The Oncology Patient Services Coordinator serves as the key contact for referring physicians, prioritizes and schedules patient tests, maintains a database of patient information, compiles and distributes reports, and provides clerical support.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains information from physician’s office to properly schedule patients for tests and procedures.
  • Tracks patient appointments and follows up as necessary.
  • Maintains patient information in computer database, including status of appointment, procedures, and test results.
  • Serves as liaison and resource for referring physicians, hospital staff/physicians, and patients.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support.
  • Accurately completes insurance verification and collaborates with health insurance providers.
  • Protects patients' rights to confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; associate's degree preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience in a medical office required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and strong computer skills.
  • Experience using Cerner, IDX, or EPIC preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
