Patient Service Specialist - Medical Front Office

About the role

This is an entry-level, full-time position with hours varying between Monday and Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Process referrals, schedule patients, and complete the intake process and data entry.
  • Handle insurance verification, authorizations, and review of benefits with patients.
  • Collect copays and patient responsibility at each visit.
  • Arrive and schedule patients, generate billing reports, and close reports.
  • Coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete with signatures and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Explain benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies to patients.
  • Scan and maintain medical documents.
  • Reconcile and post charges daily and perform other reporting to ensure clean claim processing.
  • Respond to all requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
  • Maintain office, order supplies, and manage mail.
  • Adjust schedule to meet center needs, including traveling to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and flexible.
  • Able to work well with others or independently.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification.
  • Healthcare, medical, or dental office administration experience.

Pay

Starting salary: $19 - $25 per hour based on experience. Compensation depends upon candidate’s years of experience and internal equity.
